Obituary of Christopher Martin Thoeni

Christopher Martin Thoeni (Marty) beloved father, grandfather, and friend passed away on Feb. 7, 2021.  Native to the Salinas Valley, Marty was born in Berkeley, Alameda County, Ca. to proud parents  Emma Maria and David Thoeni on Feb. 21, 1962.  He was youngest of five children. The family moved from Alameda to Orinda County and further down south to Salinas Valley.  Marty was known for his charisma, his sharp wit and positive attitude towards life.  He was always known to bring a smile to anyone he crossed paths with.  Marty was also very well known for being a mechanical genius-anything tractor, car or motorcycle related.  His profession as a tractor mechanic for the Watsonville/Salinas Valley agriculture farms for 35 plus years was well respected and known.  Marty had an intense passion for dirt bikes beginning at a young age trailblazing into a lifelong relationship with the short track.  Later in life he enjoyed building shifter go-carts.  He built motorcycles of all types from the ground up, as well as, designing perpetual motion machines that we would dream up.  He was a mentor to many.  Marty was a devoted husband to Kim Thoeni, father to Kristen Thoeni, Catherine Thoeni-Hooks, Brandon Thoeni-Hooks and Michael Rosas.  He left behind 10 grandchildren, 7 nieces and 2 nephews.  Marty will be remembered dearly by his brothers Karl and Eric Thoeni, as well as, his sister, Regina Thoeni-Bence.  He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 25 years, Kim Thoeni; his mother, Emma Thoeni; father, David Thoeni; and brother, Maximillian Thoeni.
