Obituary of Felipe Ortega Arvizu

Felipe Ortega Arvizu, left this world to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 6, 2022. Felipe passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 76, surrounded by his family. 

Felipe was born on February 5, 1945 in Lubbock, Texas, but grew up in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He spent many years living in both Texas and Mexico, but finally made his home in Salinas, California in 1983.     

Felipe is preceded in death by his parents Florentino Ortega and Sara Arvizu, and Juan Manuel Ortega, his brother. He is survived by his wife, Betty, daughters Isabel (Pascual), Mari (Will), Ruby (Eugene), Rebecca (Jack), Miriam (Alfonso) and his son Felipe. He is also survived by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Felipe was a small business owner and was always looking for the next business venture. His biggest motivation was his family, he enjoyed eating out with them, along with watching soccer and boxing matches. One of his favorite pastimes was playing billiards with his friends at the local pool hall. 

He will always be remembered for his love in sharing the “good news” to everyone he would meet. He enjoyed spreading the gospel on his annual missionary trips to Mexico, and enjoyed sharing those experiences with family and friends. 

Felipe was a man of faith, which gives his family comfort that he is in heaven rejoicing with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. 

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022 at Church of the Rock on 1375 E. Market St. Salinas, CA 93905 

2pm-4pm - Viewing 

4pm-5:15pm - Celebration of Life Service 

Burial will be held at 11am on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, CA 93907 

 

Felipe Ortega Arvizu, partió de este mundo para estar con el Señor el jueves 6 de enero de 2022. Felipe falleció en paz en su hogar a la edad de 76 años, rodeado de su familia.

Felipe nació el 5 de febrero de 1945 en Lubbock, Texas, pero creció en Tampico, Tamaulipas, México. Pasó muchos años viviendo tanto en Texas como en México, pero finalmente estableció su hogar en Salinas, California en 1983.

A Felipe le precedieron en la muerte sus padres Florentino Ortega y Sara Arvizu, y Juan Manuel Ortega, su hermano. Le sobreviven su esposa, Betty, sus hijas Isabel (Pascual), Marí (Will), Ruby (Eugene), Rebecca (Jack), Miriam (Alfonso) y su hijo Felipe Ortega. También le sobreviven sus numerosos nietos y bisnietos.

Felipe era propietario de un pequeño negocio y siempre estaba buscando el próximo negocio comercial. Su mayor motivación era su familia, disfrutaba salir a comer con ellos, además de ver partidos de fútbol y boxeo. Uno de sus pasatiempos favoritos era jugar al billar con sus amigos en el salón de billar local.

Siempre será recordado por su amor al compartir las "buenas nuevas" con todos los que conoció. Disfrutó de difundir el evangelio en sus viajes misioneros anuales a México y disfrutaba compartir esas experiencias con familiares y amigos.

Felipe fue un hombre de fe, lo que le da a su familia el consuelo de que está en el cielo regocijándose con su Señor y Salvador, Jesucristo.

Se llevará a cabo una celebración de la vida el 17 de enero de 2022 en Church of the Rock en 1375 E. Market St. Salinas, CA 93905
