Obituary of Jose Concepcion Martinez

Jose Concepcion Martinez, (74), of Salinas, California passed away on December 26, 2022 following medical complications. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones.
 
He was predeceased by his mother, father and two sisters, respectively: Petra Ruelas, Jose Maria Martinez , Antonia Galvan and Adela Meza. He left behind his wife, five children, eight grandchildren and countless other friends and relatives, respectively: Bertha Martinez, Elizabeth Martinez (and Santos Peinado), Blanca Montoya (and Leopoldo Montoya, Sr.), Elida Martinez, Hector Martinez (and Kathy Martinez), Marvin Martinez, Alejandra Montoya, Cedric Martinez, Guadalupe Montoya, Adrian Martinez, Anthony Martinez, Leopoldo Montoya, Jr., Jaiden Martinez and Camila Martinez.
 
J.C. Martinez was born in 1948 in the small town of El Magistral, Jalisco near Ameca, Jalisco. He was married for 51 years. Throughout his lifetime, Martinez was working in the agriculture industry in various capacities. His family established themselves in Salinas in 1976 after previously living in Davenport and Los Angeles.

Papi Chon was an avid soccer fan and always remained loyal to his favorite team of Guadalajara, Las Chivas. He also was a soccer coach and accomplished many victories with his team that would go on to be lifelong friends and family members. He also enjoyed hiking and the great outdoors.
 
Visitation will be held from 1:00pm-7:00pm on January 12, 2023 at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905.
 
Rosary will be held at 5:00pm on January 12, 2023 at the Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905.
 
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on January 13, 2023 at Madonna del Sasso, 320 E. Laurel Drive, Salinas, CA 93906.
