Orville Wolf

Obituary of Orville Eugene Wolf

Orville was born in Tolleson, AZ to Seymour and Edna Wolf. He was the fourth of five children. He spent his childhood in Tolleson and graduated from Tolleson High School. While there he participated in football, baseball and track.

After graduation his family moved to Salinas, CA where he met and married the love of his life Susie Ladell Gray. They married March 1953 and spend most of their life together in Salinas except for the time he was in the Navy.

Orville served the country by joining the Navy during the Korean Conflict. After leaving the Navy he and Ladell returned to Salinas where he joined the Salinas Fire Department. He rose to the rank of lieutenant. He retired from the department in 1986 with almost 30 years of service. In his off time he worked as a carpet installer.

He enjoyed restoring old cars and building/tinkering. He even built one of the family homes (with a little help). He thought that instructions were only used if at first you don't succeed in putting it together yourself. He did all of this before the invention of the internet and YouTube. He also enjoyed playing golf, water and snow skiing along with attending events that his kids and grandkids participated in.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ladell, his parents Seymour and Edna, and his siblings Frank Wolf, Rosalie Dickson, Charlie Wolf and Wanda Giffen.

He leaves behind his children David Wolf (Terry), Suzan Wurz (James) and Shelly Stockton. He has five beloved grandchildren: Lisa Epstein (Jonathan), Jeff Wurz (Ali), David Scott Wolf, Sarah Tarplee (Josh) and Jacob Stockton. Last, but not least two great grandsons Evan and Asher Epstein.

There will be a graveside service at Garden of Memories at 2PM, Friday 2/24/2023. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity.
