Obituary of Chand K. Charan

Chand Kuar Charan 

First Breath: December 26, 1927 in Nausori, Fiji Islands.

Last Breath: April 29, 2023 at Community Hospital in Monterey, CA at the age of 95.

Chand was a strong and an independent woman who will always be an inspiration to everyone. She was a very loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to everyone she came in contact with. In Fiji Islands, she raised her children while working in the farms and selling produce in the markets. She migrated to the USA in September of 1981, and she lived in Seaside/Greenfield, California. After moving to California, she briefly worked as a laundry attendant and continued to spend her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Chand was well known for her sweet smile and soft spoken voice. She lived her life full of joy and laughter. At the age of 95 years old, she had became many things to many people, all of whom will cherish her memory daily. Words alone cannot begin to express how much she was loved and how dearly she will be missed. She will live on forever in our hearts and minds. 

Chand was the oldest child with eight brothers and three sisters.

Chand will be dearly missed by her surviving family: seven children, thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Children: Dip Charan & wife Kala Wati; Nirmala Chandar & husband late Jai Chandar; Lal Charan & wife Urmila Charan; Kris Charan & wife Nandani Charan; Urmila Singh & husband Sunny Singh; Ashok Charan & wife Madhur Chand: Angie Gopi & husband Ram Gopi.

Grandchildren: Irene Kumar & Late Ajay Kumar, Ronald Charan, Shaleshni Devi, Ravi Chandar & wife Sanjana Chandar, Eddie Charan & wife Caroline Charan, Reshmi Narayan & husband Salvein Narayan, Kartika Charan, Rachel Kumar & husband Neil Kumar, Vicky Chandra, Natasha Singh and husband Sanjay Singh, Donald Charan, Calvin Chand and Savneet Charan.

Great Grandchildren: Neha Asheelta, Akash Chandra, Saagar Chandar, Ashwarya Chand, Rahul Kumar, Evan Charan, Kyleigh Kumar, Kameron Kumar, Kysha Chandar, Evanney Charan and Aanvi Narayan. 

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Healey, 405 N Sanborn Rd., Salinas, CA 93905
