Obituary of Louis Campa

Life Legacy Louis Campa, 88, of Salinas, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at his home after an illness. Louis was born July 14, 1928 in Phoenix, AZ, to Santiago and Susana Campa. He was married to Mary Campa for 54 years and together raised six children. Louis served in the U.S. Army and was in the Korean War from 1951-1952. In Jan. 2016, he attended a ceremony honoring Korean War veterans and was presented with an appreciation certificate and the Ambassador of Peace Medal. He enjoyed storytelling, being around his family, and traveling. The Family would like to thank the VNA and his doctors for the care they provided during his illness. He will be dearly missed by all. Survivors include his children, Ruby, Katie, Teresa, Ricky, and Valerie, 10 grandchildren, Jacqueline, Christina, Ricky Jr., Joseph, Joshua, Danny, Ruben, Samantha, Gabriel, Lisa, and 11 great-grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Tonia Mercado, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; daughter, Mary Lou; his parents, four brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 1-9pm with a Rosary vigil at 7pm, all at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd Salinas, CA 93905. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 10am at Madonna del Sasso Catholic Church 320 E. Laurel Drive Salinas, CA 93906. Burial to follow services at the Garden of Memories Cemetery 850 Abbott St. Salinas, CA 93901.
