Obituary of Frank Hobbs

Frank W. Hobbs, 86, of Salinas passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008 at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. He was born June 9, 1921 in Lincoln, Neb. Frank studied engineering at Iowa State for 3 ½ years before enlisting in the Army Air Corp. in 1942. He met his wife, Buff Senavsky, in Salinas at an officer's club dance and married in Des Moines, Iowa in 1945. The two were married for 53 years until her passing in 1999. He began working for Hampshire Construction Company in 1946. Frank purchased the company in 1965, and continued as its President until 1989, when he retired. The company built many homes and commercial buildings in Salinas, Monterey, Carmel, ad throughout the county. He served as President of the Salinas Valley Builders Exchange and Director of the California Builders Exchange. Frank was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling. He was generous and kind hearted. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Luboff Hobbs and brother, Charles Hobbs. Frank is survived by Son; Frank (Martha Rees) Hobbs of Wilmington, Del.; daughter Lorraine (Rod) Curb of Arroyo Grande, grandsons; Nathan and Duncan Hobbs of Wilmington, Del.; a niece, nephews, and a cousin. Memberships: He was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, Salinas Elks Lodge #619, West Gate Adelphic Lodge #509, Charter member of Corral de Tierra Country Club, and St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Salinas. At his request, no services will be held. Cremation to take place and inurnment will follow at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Shrine.
