Obituary of Charles McAuley

Charles Phillip McAuley (Mac), 91, passed away Friday morning September 5, 2008 at The Ridge Rehab Center in Salinas. He was born in Currie, Minnesota Oct. 22,1916. His family moved to Mill City, Oregon when he was young, where he graduated from Mill City High School. He also attended Eugene Community College. He met and married his wife, Ann while living in Mill City and then moved to Sacramento, California. after he was stationed at Mather AFB during WWII. He was also a member of the Tehama Masonic Lodge #3. He was a self-employed irrigation contractor for many years while in Sacramento, then he and Ann turned to real estate development in Auburn, California. Phil was a sweet and loving husband and father. He never used foul language and was always ready to lend a helping hand. There wasn't anything he wouldn't try. If it didn't work the first time, he'd find a way to "Joe Mcgee" it. In the 1970's he even tried gold mining in the Sierras of Nevada. He and some friends set up a gold mining camp and he was the diver who handled the vacuum hose at the bottom of the river. He tried a lot of jobs during his lifetime, even selling Kirby Rex-Air Vacuum Cleaners with the late boxer, Max Baer. He and Ann retired to Aromas in 1997. We would esspecially like to thank the nursing staff of The Ridge for the kind and considerate care of our husband and father while he was in your care. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Ann. They had one daughter, Susan Wilson, of Danville, Kentucky; Granddaughter Danette Lawson, of Wimauma, Fla.; Greatgrand children, Jennifer Scott, Elizabeth Danley, Katerina, Kristen, R.Warren Jr,.and Haylie Lawson, Jeremy and Katelynn Wilson; Nephews, Samuel N.
