Obituary of Kenny Emberson

Kenneth Gerald Emberson, age 71, born August 25, 1937, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2008, at the family home, surrounded by his loved ones. He spent his childhood in Prunedale and the Alisal district of Salinas, attending several local schools. He married his wife of 52 years, Bettie Jean Patterson of Gonzales, CA, on June 16, 1956, being blessed with 5 beautiful daughters, 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was also fortunate enough to raise his twin grandson's; coaching their little league team, and attending all their south county sporting events. Ken lived life to the fullest enjoying hunting and fishing in the Salinas and San Joaquin Valleys. Bowling for many years in Salinas and Soledad. He retired from Kaiser Refractories in Moss Landing after 45 years. In 1977, after living in Salinas for 40 years, he moved his family to the beautiful South County region of Sycamore Flats on the Arroyo Seco River. The family enjoyed every moment of their country living, even the terrible winter battles with the flooding river and riding the cage to get in and out. He loved sharing his Oasis with family, friends, and co-workers, where many great moments were shared by all and will always be remembered. In 2004, Ken and Bettie moved to Hemet, CA, then due to declining health, returned to Salinas, in 2008, to be closer to family and friends. Ken is survived by his wife Bettie Jean (Patterson) Emberson, of the family home. 5 daughters, Rhonda Emberson, Roberta (Paul Dietz)Emberson, Alicia (Doug)Cask , Wendy (Steven)Scott and Myla Emberson. 13 grandchildren, (by age), Heidi, Jamie, Jimmy, Robert, Ryan, Aaron, Richard, Andy, Rose, Randy, Ashley, Dylan and Tyler; 9 great-grandchildren, sister Virginia Alexander, and many nieces, nephew, and other close family members. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Robert Steward Emberson and Myrtle Estell (Benefield) Emberson, and 2 brothers, Mylo and David Emberson. Ken was loved by many and will be remembered for his wide smile and easy charm. Kenneth's Memorial Service will be held on October 25, 2008 at 1:00 pm at Healey Mortuary; 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905. Anyone who would like to speak at the Memorial Service is welcome to do so at the end of the memorial service. A reception will be held immediately following at the La Canada Mobile Home Club House, 55 San Juan Grade Road, Salinas, CA.
