Obituary of Jane Hollenbeck

Jane Hollenbeck passed away on November 20, 2008 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born and raised in Iowa City, Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. While working in the nursing field, she was instrumental in establishing one of the first Intensive Care Units in San Francisco. She was also Director of Nurses of Wheeler Hospital in Gilroy, CA. Jane went back to school, attending Seattle University ot obtain registration as a Medical Record Administrator and Director of Medical Records at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital for 15 years. Until retirement in 2001, she consulted in skilled nursing facilities in Central California. Jame was always available to help others and did voulnteering for Meals on Wheels; Dorothy's Place and was active in the First Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. With her medical records/nursing background, she encouraged people to take responsibility for keeping their health information accurate and up to date by creating and publishing a "Personal Health Information Organizer". Jane was preceded in death by her twin sister, Joan, and her husband, Ralph Hollenbeck. She is survived by sisters Diane and Jim Stowell of Crystal Lake, Il. brother David and Ann Dunlop of Osage, IA stepdaughters Sandra and Chris Smith with two dear grandsons, Aaron and Tyler of Salinas, Kdonna Martin of Oklahoma, Charlotte Brown of Colorado stepson Karl Hollenbeck of Salinas numerous nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends four-legged companion, Rusty Sunday November 23, 2008 , 1PM - 5PM at Healey Mortuary Click for Map and Directions Monday November 24, 2008 , 11AM at Healey Mortuary Click for Map and Directions at Garden of Memories Cemetery Click for Map and Directions
