Obituary of Ray Cason

Ray T. Cason, 87, of Salinas, died peacefully Wednesday Dec. 10, 2008, at Windsor The Ridge Rehabilitation Center. He was born on August 27, 1921 in Gainesville, Texas. He entered the Army in 1941, served in North Africa and Europe in WWII and the South Korean War. After the Korean War, he was stationed in Japan. He married Hisako Sugimoto in 1957. Ray and Hisako had one son, James Alan Cason. Prior to his retirement, he was stationed in Germany. He retired in 1965 from Fort Hood Texas, Ray and his family moved to California in 1966. Ray entered into Civil Service at Fort Ord and then retired in 1985. Ray enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a Member of Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, and the Ord Military Community Chapel, where he was a usher for 39 years. Ray is survived by his wife of 51 years, Hisako Cason; son James Alan and Nancy Cason; two sons from a previous marriage, Ronald and Jean Cason, Gary Lee and Alice Cason, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, all are from Texas.
