Obituary of Elia Trujillo

On Sept. 18, 1956, this world had the privilege of seeing Elia Rea Saavedra being born. On Dec. 9, 2008, in her dreams, God decided to take Elia Saavedra Trujillo into His arms, rest there, and be in Paradise with His son Jesus Christ. At the age of eight, on an old station wagon, she, and her nine siblings (Maria was later born, Eloisa remained in Mexico), Adela, Monica, Hermelinda, Carmela, Angelica, Veronica, Guadalupe, Genovevo, her wonderful mother Aurelia, and her Father Genovevo, left Janamuato, Michoacn, Mexico, and eventually arrived in Firebaugh. There, as a migrant child, lived in many labor camps in California, including in Firebaugh. In the agriculture fields of California she picked cotton, cucumbers, grapes, tomatoes, prunes, toiled the soil with the back breaking short-hoe and worked on loud sorting field machines that only added to her hearing problems. In her seventh and eighth grade years of school, not only was she was the fastest sprinter in the girl's track team and she could beat many boys. She also proved to be one of the most intelligent, dedicated and a tenacious student. In high school, because there were no sports for girls. Elia and her sister, Carmela, took on cheerleading, excelled in school, won a speech award, graduated at the top of her class, continued to live on a labor camp, continued to work in the fields of the San Joaquin Valley, and was one of the most beautiful sport queens in her Dos Palos High School. In 1975 she left to the University of California, Santa Cruz, from where she obtained in four years her teaching credential, and two bachelor's degrees (Spanish literature and psychology). She was a very intelligent woman. She did well. In 1978, she honored Jose Trujillo and became his wife. 1n 1979, at the age of 22, she began her teaching career at Bardin Elementary School where she taught second and third grade for almost 30 years. In her first year of teaching at Bardin, the school board recognized her as the best teacher in the school district. Since her first day at Bardin school she founded the Bardin Folkloric Dance Group and kept it going until her death without monetary compensation. Her yearly dance group averaged 65 children. She would pick up children from their second or third grade and kept them in the group until their sixth-grade graduation. She knew that this was good for the children since it help them with their public presentation development, commitment, dedication, and discipline. This commitment was her sacrifice and gift to thousands of children. Not many people can match this gift. She did well. In 1990, she received the Harden Foundation award in recognition for being the best teacher in Monterey County. In 2006, she was awarded one of the best teachers wards from the Alisal School Foundation. As a Christian, she was a model. She became a born again Christian 30 years ago, and since then, dedicated her life to the Lord. Until a year ago, for 29 years, she was also a Sunday school teacher at the First Assembly of God Church, on Fairview Avenue. There, she reached hundreds of children in the name of Jesus. As a mother to her wonderful children, Cuauhtemoc, Israel, Enoch, and Jovita, she was, and is a Christian mother to whom she read the Bible, prayed with them every night, helped in their school work, developed their Christian life, and for whom she sacrificed her self to give them her best. She was the model Christian wife. No husband could/should wish for anything else. Her history proves this and no one can say otherwise. She did well. As a Christian in her job, when given the opportunity, she was always comforting others in Jesus' name. Her discipline with her students, as at home, was always with Christ' love. She would try to do as Jesus would. She did well. As a Christian to her brothers and sisters, she was the model Christian woman, always talking from God's perspective. She did well. Elia Saavedra Trujillo was a humble woman. Elia continuously gave, never expecting anything in return, always striving to follow her savior Jesus Christ. Her history in this world proves this and no one can say otherwise. She did well. Elia Saavedra Trujillo is now resting in paradise. There, she is walking with Jesus, while all around them children gone there before and after, and as children do when happy and content, smile and giggle, pleased with what Jesus is telling her; "Elia, my daughter, you did well. You surpassed your duties and this is why I have called you home! Come! Walk with me. Let us rest. I will keep you company for eternity. Your earthly children and husband will join you soon. Look at the pages of your book of life. The pages are clean of sin. You did well my child. You did well."
