Obituary of Stephen Jones

Stephen F. Jones, 59, of Salinas, California went into the arms of Jesus in the early morning hours of December 8th, 2011. Steve is survived by his wife Rene Jones, children Robert Jones, Kristiana Morris, Breanna Thurston and Jordan Cosby as well as his brother Greg Jones and three grandchildren, Emma Jackson, Reid Thurston, and Kaydriana Morris (plus one more on the way!) Steve was surrounded by the loving presence of his family and friends in his final days, having spent 9 months battling lung cancer. In those months, Steve traveled to Las Vegas, rode his motorcycle, played with his grandchildren, visited family in North Carolina, put together a large family camping trip in the Sierras, and overall just enjoyed life to it’s fullest. Steve was born in Erie, PA on August 6th, 1952 and was the son of the late Robert H. Jones and Glenna J. Jones. He was an Eagle Scout and veteran of the Army where he served as a medic instructor at Fort Sam Houston. He loved the outdoors, gardening, and horticulture which he was able to turn into a successful career as the owner of Organic Lawn and Garden. Steve was also a proud Harley owner, loving his bike and the feel of the open road. He would also want us to mention his beloved boxers, Rocky, Izzy and Spike as well as “the original”, Buster. Steve was an amazing husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and especially grandfather. He will be missed. A Celebration of Steve’s life will be held at Calvary Chapel Monterey on Monday, December 12th at 2pm located at3001 Salinas Hwy Monterey, CA 93490. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Steve’s name to either Rob’s Run, Inc. or any charity benefiting children, as there was nothing more dear to his heart. Rob’s Run, Inc. P.O.
