Obituary of Jose Miranda

Born on March 29, 1911 in Mexico City, Mexico. Jose came to the United States through the 1st Bracero Program at the age of 17. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served in WWII as a Medic. After returning from the Army, he met the love of his life, Arlene Vargas; they were marrried 49 years, until her passing in 1994. He previously worked for several years at Pet Milk, until the Plant closed. He then worked with the County of Monterey until his retirement, at the age of 70. Jose was a member of Comite Civico Mexicano, Inc., the Knights of Columbus Council #5140, and was a lifelong, and one of first attending parishoners of St. Mary of the Nativity Catholic Church in Salinas. As a hobby, he loved to build and repair things. He was an excellent craftsman. He will always be remembered as an fantastic dancer. The family wishes to extend a "Special Thanks" to VNA Hospice, and to Dr. Robert Olson and staff. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren caregivers Chris and Nick Valdez, Sandra Rivas, Carmen Estrella and Linda Souders preceded in death by wife of 49 years, Arlene Luz Miranda in June, 1994.
