Obituary of Peggy Moreno
Peggy Louise Moreno, of Salinas, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at Carmel Hills Care Center with her beloved husband, Alfred, by her side. She was 79 years old.
She was born June 10, 1929 in Shamrock, Texas, to Paul and Lema Valentine. She had two sisters, Billie and Paula. Soon after she was born, the family moved to Cecil, AK, then to Oakland, CA during WWII so her parents could work in the shipping yards. They moved to Salinas in 1946. There she met the love of her life, Alfred "Fred" Moreno. They married soon after they met and were blessed with three children; Pam, Rick and Paul David.
For 35 years, Peggy owned and operated a beauty shop called the "Kut n' Kurl" until her retirement. She was a member of Bethel Southern Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and held other church-related positions. For the past five years, she was an active member of Echoes from Calvary Church.
She enjoyed attending church, singing and playing the piano, reading, cross-word puzzles, but most of all, being around her family.
Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was also adored by many friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to "Thank" Cherie, Ginger and Jane of Heartland Hospice, and extend a "Special Thanks" to Terry Morales, her home caregiver.
