Peggy Louise Moreno, of Salinas, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at Carmel Hills Care Center with her beloved husband, Alfred, by her side. She was 79 years old. She was born June 10, 1929 in Shamrock, Texas, to Paul and Lema Valentine. She had two sisters, Billie and Paula. There she met the love of her life, Alfred "Fred" Moreno. They married soon after they met and were blessed with three children; Pam, Rick and Paul David. For 35 years, Peggy owned and operated a beauty shop called the "Kut n' Kurl" until her retirement. She was a member of Bethel Southern Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and held other church-related positions. For the past five years, she was an active member of Echoes from Calvary Church.
