Obituary of Doris Irons
Doris Mary Irons unexpectedly left us on February 19, 2009. She was recently preceded in death by Darwin, her husband of 67 years, on February 5, 2009.
She was one of 10 children in her family. Born in Brocksburg, Nebraska on June 9, 1924. Doris and Darwin moved to Alisal in 1948.
Being a dedicated wife, mother and grandma was her life's work. Collecting family photographs was always a hobby. At last count she had 27 cherished albums. For all holidays we could count on a homemade pie and a handcrafted gift, both made with love. Their backyard was evidence that Doris had two green thumbs with magnificent citrus trees, logan berries, and a special gift for growing unique flowers.
Hundreds of chicken collectables filled their cozy home. For those that visited, you could expect plenty of snacks in the afternoon at "Beer 30".
In years past, they were avid bowlers and loved square dancing, where numerous lifelong friendships were made. She always looked forward to her monthly church luncheons with the members of the Hillcrest Methodist Church, where she was a charter member.
"We will miss you Mom/Grandma and we're thankful for all the happiness that your gentle soul added to our lives."
The family would like to "thank" the staff at Windsor Gardens Rehabilitation Center and Dr. Leslie Foote, for their comfort, support, and care of both our loved ones.
