Obituary of Marvin Dunagan

Marvin S. Dunagan, 77, of Salinas and formerly of Lubbock, Texas, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009, in Salinas. Marvin was born Aug. 12, 1931, in Miami, Ariz. and had resided in Salinas for 58 years. He served in the U.S. Army. He retired from PG&E. Marvin was a member of Echoes from Calvary and formerly a member of the Pentecostal Church of God on Williams Road, Salinas. He was in charge of the bus ministry at the Pentecostal Church of God for several years. Throughout the years, he had been involved in various church functions and had sung and played his guitar and bass in different groups. He had a great love of music and also enjoyed playing the bass and guitar during church services. His parents owned the largest chain of music stores in Texas (Dunagan School of Music). Marvin also attended the Men’s Prayer Breakfast every Tuesday morning and was there at the very beginning. Special heartfelt "thanks" goes to his brother and sister-in-law, Pastor Dale and Treva McIntire; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Emily Bennett; family members,Terry and Cindy Close, and Kathy and Steve Harrison; Pastor James and Diana Gee and many other family members and close friends. He will be greatly missed. Survivors: His wife of 56 years, Sara; son, Ron (Sheri) Dunagan of Vancouver, Wash.; daughter, Charlene (Rod) Clark of Salinas; grandchildren, Garren, Jordan, Ryan, Collin, Dillon, Lauren and Kennan; brother, Don Dunagan of Texas; sister, Marlys Lee of Arkansas; along with numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Dunagan, in 1992. Donations in Marvin's memory may be made to Echoes from Calvary, 1025 Post Drive, Salinas, Calif. 9390.
