Obituary of David Lee West

 On the afternoon of June  24, 2023, David Lee West passed away at the age of 87 in Salinas, CA.  David was born in Friend, NE, to Thomas and Helen West, though he spent most of his life in central California.
     David earned a Bachelor of Science degree in General Agriculture in 1957.  He then enlisted in military service as a commissioned officer, destroyer duty.  Afterwards, he continued his education and received a Masters degree in Agronomy and a PhD in Plant Physiology.  David spent many years working as an advisor and consultant to farmers in California agriculture.
     In retirement David enjoyed gardening, reading, and time spent with family, especially his wife Jane of 65 years.  He also spent many happy occasions with his daughters, grandsons, and friends.
     David is preceded in death by his father Thomas, his mother Helen, his sister Arlene, and his daughter Debi.  He is survived by his wife Jane, his daughters Teresa and Joyce, his grandsons Christopher and Scott, and his sister Ardis.
     A private funeral service will be held.
