Obituary of Gabino R. Lopez

Gabino Lopez was born in Nayarit, Mexico in Oct 1945. His early years were tough given his dad passed away at an early age. He lacked elementary education because of his circumstances. He become an adult at an early age. He met his wife Maria Lopez and started a family after illegally crossing to the USA in the early 70s in Los Angeles.  In the 80s he moved to Salinas and started working in the agricultural industry as a tractor hauler and eventually a foreman over 20 years in the lettuce & broccoli sections. 

He was a great provider and stern parent always wanting his kids to thrive and be hardworkers. 

He eventually became a citizen and raised 3 kids in Salinas. His hobbies were beer drinking, music, hanging out with friends, and in his retirement stages was a passionate ham radio Fanatic known as El Pistolero. 

His struggles with diabetes led to his Chronic Kidney Disease in his retirement. He was a strong hearted individual that cared for his family dearly. A spiritual and devoted Catholic believer that was our father. 

He is survived by his Wife, Rebeca Lopez; Son, Oscar Lopez; Son, Teo  Lopez; Daughter, Patricia Martinez; and Grandkids, Alicia, Yaquelin,  Isabella, and Daniel.

A visitation will be Tuesday, August 22nd from 1-5pm with a Rosary Service beginning at 4pm at Healey Mortuary Chapel in Salinas.  His Funeral will be Wednesday, August 23rd at 11am also at Healey Mortuary Chapel, followed by burial at Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
