Obituary of Emma Guerrero Cota

Emma left her family’s embrace, embarking on an epic adventure to heaven where she would join her beloved husband Alfredo Cota and her son Alfredo Guerrero Cota.

Emma was born in Durango Mexico to Florencio and Julia Guerrero. On September 2, 1958, she married her beloved husband Alfredo Cota and remained married for 53 years until his death, March of 2011. They had four children together.

Shortly after her marriage to Alfredo they moved to Monterey County where she worked in agriculture and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. After retirement she remained in Monterey County for the rest of her beautiful life.

Emma was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family.

At a young age she loved to sing mariachi music and continued to sing her entire life. She was the one who would bring the family's parties to life as soon as she entered the room. Her hobbies included: dancing, cooking, finding bargains at swap meets and loved going to casinos, especially playing bingo.

Preceded in death by her parents Florencio and Julia Sonora Guerrero, her husband Alfredo Rubio Cota, her son Alfredo Guerrero Cota, two sisters and 4 brothers.

She is survived by her children Carmen Gurley, Javier Cota, Olga Garcia, three sisters, Maria Montemayor, Susana Calderon and Teresa Navarro. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Services and Rosary will be held at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, Ca 93905 on September 2, 2023, at 11 A.M.  Celebration of Life to follow at 2 P.M. 1255 De La Torre St Salinas, Ca 93905

Emma’s wishes for her final resting place will be at Mission City Memorial Park, where her remains will be interred next to her beloved mother with a private family ceremony to be held at a later date.
