Devin Camel

Obituary of Devin C. Camel

Devin Christopher “Dev” Camel, a proud father, loving brother, supportive son, amazing friend, and all-around great human passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023, in his Las Vegas, Nevada residence. Born to Clifton Camel and Maria Ninfa Camel on February 14, 1990, Devin was a beacon of love and light throughout his 33 years on this Earth and left his mark on everyone he encountered in more ways than one.

From the second Devin was born, his parents knew he was going to be someone special. The third of five boys, Devin spent his childhood blessing the lives of everyone who got to witness his signature smile. From his four brothers to his teammates, his family and friends to his beautiful children, Devin cared passionately about those he adored and spent every waking minute making sure they were aware of how much he cared about them. He and his father Clifton shared a special Father-Son bond that was as tight as could be. His adoration and appreciation for his mother Maria Ninfa could only ever be rivaled by his love for his grandmothers Luveria and Vita. All of his aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends could tell you at least one funny or heartwarming memory they shared with Devin in his beautiful life.

Devin’s intelligence and curiosity took him to many places and led to success in and out of the classroom. His athletic ability catapulted him from a friendly opponent to the talk of the entire county on the football field. He ran over and around defenders, tackling anyone that came in his zone, all the while making a ton of friends and memories during his time playing for Steinbeck, Alvarez High, and finally North Salinas High where he earned All-County honors. He played baseball for a long time before retiring and committing full-time to the gridiron. He played a couple of years of JUCO football before walking away from the game and focusing the rest of his life as a proud father.

Parenthood is a full-time job and no one was prouder to be employed than Devin. His son Cameron and his daughter Maliyah were more than his world; they were his universe, his galaxy, and every atom of his very being. He loved nothing more in life than to spend time with his beautiful children. He and Cam spent countless hours playing or watching football, skating, or just talking about life and all of its beauty. Maliyah and Dev listened to the most gangsta music you could find while doing whatever she requested all while he held the biggest smile on his face. He wanted nothing more than to make a better world for his children to live in and fought tooth and nail to make it happen day after day.

His friendships and personal relationships were everything to Dev. He always told his friends about his brothers, his brothers about his friends, and everybody about his family and his babies. He spread love and laughter everywhere he went and made connections with anyone who gave him the opportunity. He loved to get dressed up, listen to music, spend time with the family, and celebrate the life that he was blessed with. His impact on his family, friends, and community will be felt for decades to come and his name will not be forgotten.

Devin’s legacy is carried on by his children Cameron and Maliyah; his parents Maria Ninfa and Clifton; his brothers Anthony, Eric, Alexis, and Isaiah; his nieces and nephews Jordan, Akailah, Desean, and Amira; as well as the rest of his loved ones.
