Obituary of Mercy Jimenez

Mercedes (Mercy) Jimenez of Castroville, California passed away peacefully on December 19th, 2023 at the age of 95, due to a brief illness. Mercy was born on March 15, 1928 in Durango Mexico to Pedro Meza and Magdalena Jimenez. She grew up in Tamazula, Sinaloa, Mexico before immigrating to Castroville at 18 years old. Shortly after, she met the love of her life, Ramon, at a social gathering. They had five children together and were married for 58 years.
Mercy was a devoted member of Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church and had been an active member of San Pablo de Colores. She always kept her family and loved ones in her prayers. Besides her late husband Ramon, Mercy loved her family dearly. She had 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and three great, great, grandchildren who were ALL fortunate to experience her love and grace. Mercy loved to spend time with her grandchildren and cook for them. She will always be remembered for her generosity and hospitality that was extended to everyone who entered her home. Mercy was the matriarch of her family and will be truly missed.
Mercy is survived by her children: Sylvia Alvarez, Martha (Luis) Ceballos, Susie (Rick) Diaz, Ramon (Susie) Jimenez, and Jimmy (Diana) Jimenez. Grandchildren: Monica (Anthony) Alvarez, Andrea (Marcos) Quintero, Rick (Vanessa) Diaz, Bianca Diaz, Kristi Jimenez, Vanessa Armenta, Jason Jimenez, Jaime Jimenez, Jesse Armenta, Daniel Jimenez, Lauren Jimenez, and Evan Jimenez. Her brother: Manuel Meza Her great grandchildren: AJ, Marcos, Anissa, Mercedes, Jacob, Jayden, Mario, Jaymie, Julissa, Shane, Angel, Ricky, Valentina, Danae, Jason, Jimena, Dallas, and Kingston, and her great, great, grandchildren: Ayden, Jayde, and Salem.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ramon Jimenez and her granddaughter, Gina Valenzuela. Additionally, her siblings, Pedro Meza, Gonzalo Meza, Casimira Rodriguez, Beatriz Felix, and Adela Meza.
Her viewing will be Thursday, January 4th from 1-6pm with a Rosary Service at 5pm at Healey Mortuary.  Her Funeral Mass will be Friday, January 5th at Our Lady of Refuge Church in Castroville at 10am followed by burial at Castroville District Cemetery in Moss Landing.
