Arturo Garibay

Obituary of Arturo Garibay

The world has one less gentleman and heaven a new angel. Our brother Arturo Garibay has passed on February 13, 2024. He was born in La Higuera, Michoacán, Mexico. Arturo along with our Mother, Father and our Aunt Petra Garibay and younger brother Fernando moved to Tijuana, BC, Mexico where they lived for a year and a half.  Arturo arrived in Salinas, California in November of 1964. He attended Sacred Heart School and then moved across town and attended St. Mary of the Nativity School in Salinas. Art began working at an early age as a forklift operator. He attended Alisal High School and graduated from Central Coast College and soon after he became a night auditor for many of the Monterey Bay Area hotels.

Arturo comes from a large closely knit family which includes our Mother, Josefa Garibay; brothers and sisters, Fernando Garibay, Rose Mary Ramirez, Margaret Salas, Socorro Garibay, Veronica Garibay, Melquiades Garibay Jr, Andres Garibay, Jesse Garibay, Joe Garibay and Fidencio Garibay and Rafael Dominguez Jr.; and numerous nephews and nieces whom he adored. Arturo was Godfather to Danielle Ramos, Bridget Garibay and Adrianna Garibay. He loved all of his family including numerous cousins, uncles and aunts in the US and Mexico.

Arturo never married because he wanted to make sure our mother and father were taken care of and he didn’t want to leave them alone. Our father passed 25 years ago and Arturo was there for our mother as to not leave her without someone being close by to care for her. Arturo always thought of others before himself. We all miss him dearly and will never forget all the wonderful memories and happy stories we created with him. We thank God for giving us the best brother anyone could ever ask for. We love you and will forever live in our hearts. God bless Arturo.

His visitation will be Thursday, February 29th from 1-7pm with a Rosary Prayer Service at 6pm.  His Funeral Mass will be Friday, March 1st at 10am at Christ the King Church followed by burial at Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
